Today is Super Hero Day at my girls elementary school. For their after school snack I made them some Super Hero Muddy Buddies. My girls are truly super heroes in my eyes.
Who is your favorite super hero??
Mine hands down is Iron Man. Of course… that is because I am a huge Robert Downey Jr. fan, but also because it is such a well written, action packed, charitable giving movie. I love the relationship that develops between him and Penny Potts. I love how he creates Iron Man out of the materials that are only in the cave. Yea… I love this super hero.
The colors of super heroes and their costumes always seem to amaze me. Red. Blue. The most common super hero color and why not?? They represent good!
Now… we all have super heroes in our lives. Those that have sacrificed so much for us, for our freedom, for our lives and I am not downplaying the real heroes or even the movie super heroes.
But… today my super heroes are my girls!!! They go out into the world and stand for good. They are happy, bright, beautiful girls. They are my heroes.
My daughter Bo chose to wear Captain America. The other night we were sitting around the dinner table discussing which super hero was the cutest. My two older girls did choose Captain America. I really don’t like the movie or the character of Captain America, so I gave them a bad time. I clearly gave them my opinion on who is the cutest super hero… IRON MAN.
My daughter Bree didn’t have any super hero t-shirts so we made a quick trip to Wal-Mart to pick up a shirt. She didn’t have much of a choice, but Captain America it was!
She was up and dressed before 7am!! She was crazy excited for today!
She loves to wear red chapstick. She coordinates all her outfits with it.
It’s Super Cute!
I love my super hero girls!!
Sometimes… we may not feel like super heroes. But I truly believe that their is a super hero inside all of us!
My daughter Jane got to wear Superman or Superwoman. She is very adorable!
Now… onto the yummy delicious BLUE Super Hero Muddy Buddies. I made this recipe for my girls for their Spirit Week at their elementary school, but I know you could adapt it for any holiday or event. Maybe a spring get together, instead of red white and blue sprinkles add flowers. Maybe for a baby shower.
Anyways… lots of uses for this puppy chow!
Here is the recipe..
- 5 cups rice chex
- 10 ounces white chocolate chips, melted
- 1 ½ cups of blue raspberry premium cookie mix
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- In a large mixing bowl, add your measured rice chex.
- In a microwavable safe bowl, melt your white chocolate chips in 1 minute increments, until a creamy consistency. If needed, add some vegetable shortening to make smooth.
- Pour melted white chocolate over the rice chex. Mix to combine.
- In a large ziplock bag combine cookie mix and powdered sugar and shake well. Add rice chex mix to the large ziplock bag and seal tight and shake again to coat the cereal.
- Dump out onto wax paper or into a bowl and sprinkle with sprinkles.
This is a Blue Raspberry Premium Cookie Mix… so it is a little tart, however they are very delicious!!
This is a great recipe for Muddy Buddies or what everyone else calls Puppy Chow. I simply adapted this recipe from Chef in Training.
What is your favorite combination of Muddy Buddies?? Have you ever tried a different puppy chow than the original?? This recipe is easily adaptable to any combination.
Alrighty then… who is your favorite super hero??
Maybe it could be your child, your friend, your mom or dad, or even yourself, maybe its superman or iron man or even
captain america, batman
but let us all remember…
it is not who I am underneath it is what I do that defines me.
