The Weekend

The Weekend

The weekend was spent camping at Sharp Creek Campground. The views, the fish hatchery, the bright stars, the great company, was just the perfect weekend getaway.

We went camping this weekend! I was excited to get out of the heat. Camping is a lot of work. The older I get the harder it truly is. However, when your family loves to do it, you go and take a good book with you.

My husband is a very hard worker and we make a good team, therefore we work hard getting things ready to go camping. We also really enjoy the peace and the serenity that the mountains bring. That is why we go!

We live in Arizona and we drive about 2 ½ hours away from town to the Mogollon Rim. It is such beautiful country! Once we arrive the kids cant wait to get out of the truck. We let them go and explore why we “set up” camp. I found it quite interesting the draw to the “trailer” the kids have. They want to play in it all day long!

We were surrounded by pines, hills, meadows, and cows! Yes… when we pulled up to our site there were several cows grazing!

They made the most unusual sound. It didn’t sound like a cow. I can’t explain the sound of their noise!

After we got our camp set up, which is really easy when you have a trailer, we explored the area. It was very beautiful. The sun was slowly going down and we were enjoying the much cooler weather.

The girls found a huge garbage can that they climbed on and played on for quite some time. They were actually afraid of the bulls charging them, so they felt safe and comfortable up above.

The girls explored several areas. They always seems to gravitative to the fences. They climbed, jumped, moooooed, and had fun trying to scare the cows.

Except Jane she had to make a fairy garden with a chair. She is so creative. She played in it for a least an hour. I love the outdoors, you don’t have to entertain your children, and you let their imagination run wild!

The sun slowly set and we gathered firewood to start our evening under the stars, warm by the fire.

We went to bed pretty early. The girls really like being inside the camper. My husband and I even went to bed early, and we slept pretty good for the first night.

The next day we slept in and had donuts for breakfast. We had some friends bring some breakfast burritos and the husband really enjoyed those. That afternoon we drove up to the Fish Hatchery.  The girls had a blast. BUT before that we had to get our feet wet. The husband crossed the creek and all the girls had to follow!

The girls loved feeding the fish. They were a ton of them! Most of them were rainbow trout.

Which I learned something new about Arizona… our state fish is the Apache Trout. We had fun learning new facts we didn’t know! Most of the fish we fed however were rainbow trout! It is amazing where this fish hatchery provides fish. It was all over the state!

At the front of the hatchery is a big lake with some very large fish in it!  They are they for us to enjoy and sometime they are transported to different schools and wildlife shows throughout the state! They were gorgeous! {Sorry no picture}

After the fish hatchery we enjoyed some games, played with toys, and family time, and started making the best dinner ever!

That night we played with friends, sat by the fire again, had the most amazing mud dessert, and we put the little ones to bed early so we could stay up and visit, which was only like 10pm. Ha Ha. IMG_6151
